Mother's Day! Let's make it Your day

Mothers Day! Lets make it our day!

Mother's Day is YOUR day, but those who love you are not mind readers.  Help them out by speaking up and letting them know what you would like to do on your special day.  If you dream of breakfast in bed, let them know.  Want to go for a family walk?  Pick your favorite site and inform everyone of the time and meeting place.  Allow yourself to ask for what you want.

We can take steps to increase our own happiness.

Research supports that taking time to reflect on and list 5 things we are grateful for, regardless of how difficult things are right now, enhances happiness. It can be as simple as noticing a beautiful sunset, a flower blooming, or a bird singing.  Think about each of your children. It’s easy to get caught up in their challenges, but for this day focus on their gifts and strengths.

Give yourself a pat on the back for the
steps you’ve taken to nurture your children’s gifts.

Celebrate your moments of greatness as a parent.  Allow yourself to be imperfect.  We all are.  Life is complex.

Progress not perfection is always our goal.

And while you are at it if there are women who have made a difference in your life, reach out to them.  Whether it is your own mom, or a "bonus mom,"  grandmother, mother-in-law, teacher, coach or any other significant women in your life who has supported and encouraged you, let them know. Acts of kindness enhance our happiness too. Celebrate the woman and mother you are today.  It's YOUR day.

Happy Mother’s Day!
